چکیده

S stars are late-type giants that transition objects between M-type and carbon on the asymptotic giant branch (AGB). They classified into two types: intrinsic or extrinsic, based presence absence of technetium (Tc). The Tc-rich thermally-pulsing (TP-)AGB internally producing s-process elements (including Tc) which brought to their surface via third dredge-up (TDU). Tc-poor extrinsic gained overabundances accretion s-process-rich material from an AGB companion has since turned a dim white dwarf. Our goal is investigate evolutionary status by locating them in Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram using results Gaia early Data Release 3 (EDR3). We combine current sample 13 with our previous studies 10 determine observational onset TDU metallicity range [-0.7; 0]. also compare abundance determinations dedicated nucleosynthesis predictions. stellar parameters derived iterative tool combines HERMES high-resolution spectra, accurate EDR3 parallaxes, evolution models tailored MARCS model atmospheres for S-type stars. Using these we heavy-element abundances line synthesis. In HR diagram, located at higher luminosities than predicted TDU. These findings consistent being genuinely TP-AGB comparison profiles predictions provide overall good agreement. Stars highest [s/Fe] tend have C/O ratios.

The s-process in rotating AGB stars

We discuss the occurrence of the s-process during the radiative interpulse phase of rotating AGB stars. Due to differential rotation, protons are mixed into C-rich layers after thermal pulses, in the course of the so called third dredge up episode. We follow the time evolution of key isotope abundances in the relevant layers with a post-processing code which includes time dependant mixing and n...

Mixing and the s-process in rotating AGB stars

We model the nucleosynthesis during a radiative interpulse phase of a rotating 3M⊙ Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) star. We find an enhanced production of the neutron source species C compared to non-rotating models due to shear mixing of protons and C at the core-envelope interface. We estimate that the resulting total production of heavy elements by slow neutron capture (s-process) is too low t...

A New Study of s-Process Nucleosynthesis in Massive Stars

We present a comprehensive study of s-process nucleosynthesis in 15, 20, 25, and 30 M stellar models having solar-like initial composition. The stars are evolved up to ignition of central neon with a 659 species network coupled to the stellar models. In this way, the initial composition from one burning phase to another is consistently determined, especially with respect to neutron capture reac...
